{"id":1821,"date":"2024-07-20T12:01:08","date_gmt":"2024-07-20T12:01:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/2024\/07\/20\/national-lottery-website-and-app-goes-down\/"},"modified":"2024-07-20T12:01:08","modified_gmt":"2024-07-20T12:01:08","slug":"national-lottery-website-and-app-goes-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/2024\/07\/20\/national-lottery-website-and-app-goes-down\/","title":{"rendered":"National Lottery website and app goes down"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The National Lottery says it is investigating after users reported being unable to access its app and website.<\/p>\n<p>Both its website and app appeared to be offline today \u2013 a day after <strong>the global IT outage<\/strong> led to widespread disruption at airports, businesses, the NHS and broadcasters.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdc-site-outbrain sdc-site-outbrain--AR_6\">    <\/div>\n<p>Downdetector received thousands of reports of outages beginning around 8.30pm on Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear if the issues facing the lottery are connected to Friday\u2019s outage.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on X, the National Lottery said: \u201cWe are aware that some players are having issues accessing our website and app.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad ad--teads\">        <\/div>\n<p>\u201cApologies for the inconvenience, our team are currently investigating the issue to find out what has happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The global IT outage that began on Friday morning was caused by an update from global cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike, which knocked many Windows PCs offline with a \u201cblue screen of death\u201d appearing on monitors.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s founder later confirmed it was caused by a bug in the update and not a cyber attack, as some had feared.<\/p>\n<p>George Kurtz said a fix had been rolled out, but it would be \u201csome time\u201d before all systems returned.
