{"id":337,"date":"2024-05-22T00:03:22","date_gmt":"2024-05-22T00:03:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/2024\/05\/22\/skinny-fat-cells-may-lead-to-weight-gain-in-future\/"},"modified":"2024-05-22T00:03:22","modified_gmt":"2024-05-22T00:03:22","slug":"skinny-fat-cells-may-lead-to-weight-gain-in-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/2024\/05\/22\/skinny-fat-cells-may-lead-to-weight-gain-in-future\/","title":{"rendered":"Skinny fat cells may lead to weight gain in future"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>People with small fat cells are more likely to gain weight when they\u2019re older, according to scientists in Stockholm.<\/p>\n<p>Although you might not be able to tell from looking at them, some people have smaller fat cells than others, which shrink and grow as their weight fluctuates.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdc-site-outbrain sdc-site-outbrain--AR_6\">    <\/div>\n<p>To test how these different-sized cells impact weight over time, doctors at the Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge in <strong>Sweden<\/strong> measured the size of people\u2019s fat cells and weighed them.<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen years later, they weighed the same people again.<\/p>\n<p>They have now discovered that people with smaller fat cells are more likely to gain weight in the future compared to people with bigger ones, who are more likely to lose weight.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad ad--teads\">        <\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt is a bit like having a room filled to the top by a few large balloons or many small ones,\u201d said one of the study\u2019s authors, Professor Peter Arner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is easier to make empty space in the room by letting out air from the big rather than the small balloons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Great clinical value\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The scientists say their research could improve how people are treated for <strong>obesity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt could be of great clinical value to have information about fat-cell size before starting a weight-management programme,\u201d said Professor Arner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it is the case that those with large fat cells find it easier to lose weight, those with smaller cells could be given extra support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, there isn\u2019t an easy way of measuring fat-cell size at present \u2013 but it is something we are working on and we\u2019re close to coming up with a solution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There is good news for people with skinny fat cells, though.
