{"id":4809,"date":"2024-10-03T13:00:42","date_gmt":"2024-10-03T13:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/2024\/10\/03\/women-face-increasing-pressure-to-choose-between-family-and-career-in-tech-says-new-report\/"},"modified":"2024-10-03T13:00:42","modified_gmt":"2024-10-03T13:00:42","slug":"women-face-increasing-pressure-to-choose-between-family-and-career-in-tech-says-new-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/2024\/10\/03\/women-face-increasing-pressure-to-choose-between-family-and-career-in-tech-says-new-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Women face increasing pressure to choose between family and career in tech, says new report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Women increasingly feel pressured to choose between having a family and their career in tech, according to a new study.<\/p>\n<p>Almost half (49%) of women in tech said they felt pressured to make the choice between family and work, a seven per cent increase from last year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdc-site-outbrain sdc-site-outbrain--AR_6\">    <\/div>\n<p>Half said they had experienced sexism in their tech workplace.<\/p>\n<p>The findings were revealed in tech events firm Web Summit\u2019s latest report on women in the industry, which has been running since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>More than 1,000 women were surveyed for the report, which found continued sexism across the tech industry.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad ad--teads\">        <\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s frustrating that issues like sexism, unfair pay, imposter syndrome, and work-life balance keep appearing \u2013 it often feels like we\u2019re stuck in the same conversations,\u201d said Carolyn Quinlan, a vice president of community at the organisation.<\/p>\n<p>More than three-quarters of the women said they feel the need to work harder than their male counterparts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is always one guy in the room who will speak over me,\u201d said one respondent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout effective childcare support in place, it makes it more challenging for women who also want to have a family to fully participate in the workforce,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n<p>However, although many of the report\u2019s findings showed discrimination against women, there were some positives.<\/p>\n<p>Three-quarters of respondents said they would feel empowered to pursue and hold a leadership position, and more than 80% said there is a woman in senior management in their company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t help but feel hopeful,\u201d said Ms Quinlan, who said more women are \u201cstepping up\u201d and \u201cleading\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<div>This post appeared first on sky.com<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Women increasingly feel pressured to choose between having a family and their career in tech,&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":4810,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-4809","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-tech-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4809","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=4809"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4809\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/4810"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4809"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=4809"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/tradetrovex.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=4809"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
